Change of Venue - 2015 FIM Africa - Continental Motocross Championship
27 April 2015

Following the formal request from Botswana Motor Sport to withdraw from the hosting of the 2015 FIM AFRICA Continental Motocross Championships, Council is pleased to confirm that it has accepted a request from the ZIMBABWE MOTOR SPORT FEDERATION to take over hosting this event.

The dates of the event will remain per the calendar but the host federation will now be ZMSF and the event will be organised by BOGWHEELERS MOTOR CLUB at DONNYBROOK CIRCUIT, HAHARE.

The FIM AFRICA Council would like to extend its most sincere gratitude to ZMSF for taking over this event at relatively short notice, but are however sure that they will once again host an event befitting of Continental Championship status, as they have shown capable of in the past.

Gary Grainger will be the contact person for FMN’s wishing to get more information regarding the event and the SR’s will be posted in due course and within the prescribed time-frame.

No doubt Gary will contact all FMN’s with his contact details and basic information in the very near future.

With the venue now confirmed for Harare, we trust that all FMN’s will now support the event with full teams and make it a spectacle worthy of Continental Championship status.

Open Apology to Competitors, Organisers of the WP REG MX and MXSA
09 April 2015

In my capacity as the Brand Manager of Husqvarna Motorcycles in South Africa, and hence the Principle of Husqvarna Factory Racing (collectively Husqvarna), I would like to register the following statement and apology, on behalf of Husqvarna, to the competitors and organizers of the WP MX Regional held at Zone 7 on Saturday 4th April, as well as to MXSA and it’s members.

1. Having not been present at the event this past weekend, I was made aware of the incident by Morne Visser, our MX Team Principle once he had been with his Son, Jason to the hospital to get clarity on the extent of his injuries, ostensibly incurred as a result of a on track incident between Jason and Triston Purdon.
2. I have also seen a written submission of the incident by Mrs Purdon.
3. After applying myself to gathering and trying to check the facts, it is my humble opinion that the unfortunate incident was driven by firstly adrenalin, emotion and concern for the safety and wellbeing of sons, competitors and lead by short tempers from all involved.
4. It is most unfortunate that decisions made were incorrect from both the involved parties, witnesses and difficulties in clarity. I however must commend the COC and officials for doing all they could to defuse and bring calmness to the situation.
5. To remedy this wrong from, as far as I am concerned, all involved, is to take the incident as a lesson to all and apply our minds to being mindful of safety, level headedness and a general concern towards all the competitors and parties involved – not only those nearest and dearest, not only to those with large investments, but to all those involved in the sport that we so fiercely compete in – it is after all a sport – not a battle!

Finally, on behalf of Husqvarna Factory Racing, I submit humble apologies to all mentioned, for an involvement in this unpleasant incident and ask that no bitterness is created as a consequence of it. I wish all the competitors and teams good racing at the 2nd round of the Nationals at Zone 7 this coming weekend – let’s make it safe, fun and spectacular for the supporters of the this exciting form of motorsport.
