Speedspot - Zone 7 would like to thank each and everyone of you that attended and supported the MX race that was held at Zone 7 on 26 January 2014.

As you all know it was a very successful event and it would not have been possible without your support.

We are sure the early birds were pleasantly surprised by the fact that the pit area was already full quite early in the morning. Documentation (including registration and issue of transponders) was efficiently handled by the attending personnel and it only took a few minutes to process competitors.

We have received numerous compliments regarding the track, which by all counts was prepped to perfection and, we believe, must be the best prepped track in SA.

Riders briefing went smoothly, thanks to Dawn, and practise kicked off without a hitch straight after that. All the classes enjoyed the chance to practice without incident or mishap, where after the racing began in earnest!

Gates , starter, 15s board , medics, marshals, COC etc were all in place with no issues and even once the racing was already in full swing the spectators kept coming through the gates in their droves and the clubhouse upstairs was filled to capacity! What a sight!
Downstairs on the grass area there were a few stalls which also had a busy day and the jumping castle helped keep the little ones occupied.

After everyone had completed heat 1 and enjoyed a 30min lunch break the track was again watered and prepped for heat 2. This kicked off after lunch and ended with the grand finale, “king of the dirt”, which saw a few top riders bashing bars for this coveted title. This was very entertaining to watch and greatly enjoyed by the crowd.

A perfect day was concluded by prize giving, followed by more drinks and happy banter in the bar area.

We would like to thank everyone that attended (riders, spectators, supporters and sponsors) for helping to make it such a fun day. We look forward to doing it over again soon!

Being a new club, our first race of the 2014 MX season in Cape Town was a learning experience for us and we promise that we will work hard to better it continuously in the future.

As a club we realize that we cannot exist without members, riders, supporters, sponsors and & spectators. As we have said before, we aim to put you first. With this in mind, we would greatly appreciate your feedback about the event (good or bad), because this is the only way in we can build on our strengths and learn from our mistakes to improve the club for our mutual benefit.

We noticed that hosting an MX event on a Sunday has some obvious benefits, including :
1. School sport is always on a Saturday
2. Sports like rugby and cricket are usually played on Saturdays
3. People are generally more relaxed on Sundays

Would you please also let us know your thoughts about racing on Sundays. If enough of us like the idea, we will try to arrange more events on Sundays.

Thank you for your ongoing support!
