It all started back in January with Garmin Arenacross series. We
visited 6 major cities around the UK. The start list was really
stacked this season, with 24 of the top supercross riders
from around Europe lining up every weekend to do battle. I
joined a handful of riders who managed to make every single
12 man main event. At times I feel we were at a bit of a disadvantage
racing the 250F against the bigger bikes, however I enjoyed
the series and ended tied for 5th position with Kristian Whatley.
From there we moved on to the Maxxis British Motocross Championship
which started in March. The British was so stacked this year
and the racing was really intense every moto! There was GP
riders, 3 of the top 5 European Championship riders, the top
British Champs regulars as well as a few wildcards thrown
in along the way.
Round 1 at Landrake I ended up 4th overall. We then moved
onto Lyng, I had a good day there with a 3-3-2 scorecard and
took 3rd position in the championship. Round 3 at Canada heights
started good with a 3rd in race 1 and a 4th overall. We then
moved on to Whitby, where an unfortunate mechanical dnf in
race 2 was followed up with a 3rd in race 3. Fat Cats in the
deep sand was always going to be a tough day, but I was pleased
with 5th overall, and keeping my 3rd position in the championship.
Round 6 at Cusses Gorse was a bad day for us, it started with
a mechanical dnf in race 1 followed by a 6th and a 5th, we
lost 3rd position in the championship as well. The final round
at Foxhills started off good with 3rd position in superpole.
A 3rd in race 2 was the best result of the day, and I ended
the British Championship 4th overall in points just 9 points
shy of 3rd position.

The MX Nationals is a new series which has replaced the Red
Bull Pro National Series. Once again there was a lot of top
riders and some really close racing through the series. Round
1 at Culham I had a great day and came away with the win.
We moved onto Fat Cats for round 3. The racing was savage
there and I was happy to come away 2nd overall. Round 3 at
Whitby in Yorkshire we had a mechanical dnf in race 2 sandwiched
by 2 3rd places. Round 4 was held at a very muddy Pontriliis
in Wales. I rode smart and managed to come away with the overall
win there. Canada heights was up next and the racing there
was really intense. I really enjoyed it, I ended 3rd overall
but the top 3 went tooth and nail and we finished within seconds
in all 3 races. Round 6 was at Culham in Oxford with a really
stacked line up with a few GP wildcards. I ended up 4th overall
after going down in the first turn in race 3. The championship
had tightened up, and was only leading by 9 points over Bryan
Mackenzie with 2 rounds left. Another stacked field showed
up for round 7 at Preston Docks. In race one I managed to
pass Bryan with a few turns to go for 4th, and followed that
up with a 2nd in race 2 for 3rd overall and a good day at
the office. We found out today that the final round has been
cancelled so i'm pleased to say that im the 2014 MX Nationals
MX2 Champion. I'm really pleased to have earned DB Racing
another title in their final year of racing.
